Mr. Hyde Sofa

SPD (Scuola Politecnica di Design) students(in consultation with Serralunga and Deep Design): Pablo Crespo (Spain, 26), Martin Franzen (Sweden, 26) and Isaac Pineiro (Spain, 31) investigate in the function of furniture design. Mr. Hyde is a concept sofa designed for the salone del mobile 2008, an object to tell a different story.

The design story is all about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde myth: reinvented into a versatile-contemporary furniture, the object is result of the combination of a smarter use of light, materials, patterns and to a playful approach, connecting past and future and masters of the history.

so, what's so interesting ?
By day, the sofa has the face of an ordinary good looking art deco style sofa.but when the sun is down, it's reveal the fine texture or better say a photo-sensitive detailing on the upholstery that comes alive.

Les Bains des Docks :Jean Nouvel

The pritzker prize wining 2008 - French architect (and my favorite one) Jean Nouvel designed the aquatic complex Les Bains des Docks, that recently opened, in the historical Port of Le Havre.

The concept of the 5000 square meter, is inspired by the Roman thermal baths . .
Although the main “color” of the complex is white, each section’s distinct atmosphere and hue is created by flowing water curtains, color walls, and various textures and surface treatments

A special thinking was desdicated to creat "private space" for specific users.
it provides vast activities beside the lap pool-children's pool-whirlpools, such as Saunas, a hammam, cold and hot baths, and a spa area with hydro-massage and aquagym areas.

The New Museum for contemporary art:sanaaa NY

The New Museum, the first major art museum in downtown Manhattan in the city's modern history, is located on the Bowery on what is now an 8,000 square foot parking lot.

The seven-storey building was conceived as a composition of metal mesh-clad boxes, which softly shift off the main axis, creating a dynamic effect as the building rises

Designed by Tokyo-based architects SANAA Ltd ( Kazuyo Sejima (right) and Ryue Nishizawa) who said : "The solution emerged through an extensive period of trial and error. We made numerous study models based upon the New Museum's program and the demands of the site, the zoning envelope. First we arrived at the notion of the boxes themselves; each one represents a specific piece of the program developed by the Museum. Then we tried shifting the boxes to render the inside of the building more accommodating and open, with more possibilities for daylight to enter spaces and views to appear at various points in the interiors.

The SOS stool ( for casamania) blurs typological boundaries that define the acts of sitting, holding, and carrying by offering connections between these conditions and the environments within which they commonly exist.

The table is constructed from a matte finish polyurethane and is finished by a silicon gel top that creates pools on the tables surface. A limited edition of the table in red is also available.

The TwistTogether Lamp is a revolutionary mood light with a personal design touch:with a small interaction you can design the configuration for many possible sets.
The modular lighting object is made of individual blocks. By connecting them together you can set your own lightning by a simple twist.
It is energy efficient too – LEDs provide a safe, low-voltage and long lasting light source while consuming less power than a standard night light.
